Commitee
| JIM ATKINSON
(Hon Secretary): As well
as being Secretary of Fitzroy Lodge ABC, a Trustee of
the Fitzroy Lodge Trust and an ABA Full Coach, Jim is
a Boxing Director of the ABA of England and member of
the ABAE Board. Took early retirement in 2001 after 25
years as a Senior Development Manager at Sport England
where he was leader of the Active Communities Programme
in London Region. Jim is also a qualified Coach in Weightlifting
and Hockey but his real regret is that he never boxed
when he was young. |

CLIVE: Picture the old
soldiers on remembrance day wearing their campaign medals
proudly marching along Whitehall. If Clive did the same thing
with his boxing campaign medals, he would look like a hunchback
before he reached the Senetath.
Apart from his own boxing career, Clive first got involved
with the administration side back in 1953 as a competition
secretary.
Since then, he has climbed to the very top of boxing management.
Here are just a few of the posts Clive has held over the years:-
1970 - 1987: HON. SECRETARY: HOME COUNTIES, A.B.A
1972 - 1984: Judge at International level, both home and abroad.
1985 - 1990: A.I.B.A Executive Committee member.
1986 - 1990: E.A.B.A PRESIDENT.
1985 - 1986: HON. SECRETARY: A.B.A of ENGLAND.
1972 - 2001: ENGLAND TEAM MANAGER.
1990 - 2001: President of FITZROY LODGE.
His career has taken him all over the world and to this day
his diary is always full.
His passion for grass-roots boxing remains as strong as ever
and he is still happy to lend a hand stacking chairs away
or sweeping up after a novice's club show, at the Fitzroy
Lodge.
ALAN: Mister organised
is Alan. There are many times at a show or a meeting, when
you need a sharp eye to foresee things that could go wrong.
Alan is always on the ball to the point where you wonder how
he gets to watch the boxing in between.
A bit heavier now than when he was boxing
well let's
face it, a lot heavier - he now prefers to swing a golf club
than a left hook. But as the wise guys say, you can play golf
with him - great. Just don't play for money.
NICK: One of the new
breed of committee men, Nick spends most of his time at the
club sparring with the boxers. Gone are the days of the stuffy
committee distancing themselves from the boxers. People like
Nick have helped to bridge the gap.
He recognises the need for change and much of his committee
time is spent researching ideas that will take Fitzroy Lodge
into the 21st century, without getting left behind.
If he had put as much thought into his own boxing technique,
he might have been a champion!!!
JOHN: Long serving committee
man and ex Lodge boxer, John quietly goes about his business
in the club and is much respected for it. He represents the
club at various committees and functions, but can more often
be found training himself in the gym.
He still spars and it has been said he moves better now, than
when he was boxing. Not sure if that's a compliment!!!
KEITH: Ex Lodge boxer
and now official club photographer, Keith devotes much of
his spare time to the Fitzroy Lodge. He represents the club
on several committees and attends all the main events of the
season.
Keith and several others form the backbone of Fitzroy Lodge.
The only criticism aimed at Keith is that he never seems
to have any film in his camera when the boys throw their best
shot of the season!!! Such is life.
GLENN: Glenn's greatest
asset is probably his long arms. He does have a very long
southpaw jab. As far as the committee goes - he does make
a nice cup of tea. Other than that, we're struggling on this
one
. mmmhh!!
